Evansville's Major League Baseball stars Don Mattingly and Andy Benes earned their first trip to post-season play not only in the same year, but also in the same series.

For Mattingly, it ended 13 years of frustration at not making playoffs. But his New York Yankees came up short to Benes and the Seattle Mariners in a memorable five-game series. Seattle won the series, three games to two, with the finale coming in extra innings.
