They call James Fiorentino a "teen-age Norman Rockwell."
His artwork hangs in the Baseball Hall of Fame, alongside paintings done by Rockwell himself and Andy Warhol, and in the
Ted Williams Museum.
The 19-year-old Fiorentino's latest work is a tribute to Evansville native Don Mattingly, the former New York Yankees
all-star first baseman.
Entitled "The Yankee Captain," the full-color watercolor measures 18 by 24 inches and costs $295. It is limited to 500
prints, each of which has been signed by Mattingly and Fiorentino. About 300 already have been sold.
In a news release from Brenner Classic Moments of New Jersey, which is marketing the litho, Mattingly is quoted as saying
the print "has a lot of sentimental value for me since it captures my entire career with the Yankees."
Brenner officials said a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Children's Health Fund, a not-for-profit organization
co-founded by singer-songwriter Paul Simon to ensure and promote access to health care for all children in the United
States.
