DON MATTINGLY - JUNE 13, 1998 CARD SHOW
On Saturday, June 13, 1998, Don Mattingly attended his first pay-per-item autograph session at Bally's in Atlantic City, NJ. It was sponsored by National Pastime Promotions and Don signed for approximately 3 hours (11 AM to 2 PM). Prices were as follows: Flats/Balls $65. Other Equipment $75. Bats/Jerseys $125.
What follows are all Exclusive Photos! The first 8 were taken by John Spressler and the 9th one was taken by Frank Maresca. They both have graciously agreed to let me use them on this site. Since I was working in Walt Disney World in Florida for the summer, I was not able to attend the show myself. John was also kind enough to file this report for me since he was in attendance!
MEETING DON MATTINGLY AT THE YANKEE SHOW OF LEGENDS IN ATLANTIC CITY ON JUNE 13, 1998 WILL ALWAYS BE A DAY I'LL REMEMBER. THIS WAS DONNIE'S FIRST SHOW APPEARENCE IN 14 YRS. AND A DAY THAT I WOULD NOT PASS UP. DONNIE TOOK THE TIME TO TALK TO HIS FANS AND POSE FOR PICTURES WITH THEM. HE WAS JUST AS HUMBLE THIS DAY, AS HE WAS WHEN THE YANKEES RETIRED HIS # 23 LAST YEAR. DONNIE PERSONIFIED WHAT CLASS IS ALL ABOUT, AND WHAT IT REALLY MEANS TO BE A YANKEE! THIS WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST THRILLS OF MY LIFE, MEETING THE PLAYER THAT I IDOLIZED FOR A LONG TIME. LONG LIVE "DONNIE BASEBALL"!
